We are glad to welcome back our former intern, Joseph Shumunov, who will be with us for the next three months, this time as a visiting fellow. Joseph is a fourth-year student at Kalamazoo College, majoring in Political Science and International Area Studies.

As a part of his Senior Thesis at Kalamazoo College, Joseph will be conducting research on Azerbaijani foreign policy, its policies towards Russia, and positioning in GUAM Organization for Democracy and Economic Development. His project will analyze what factors afford Azerbaijan strategic fortitude and stability amid Russian policy against other GUAM states i.e., Georgia, Ukraine, and Moldova.
