American military experts visit Topchubashov Center
On 13 March 2025, American military experts, Liam Collins, Founder of the Modern War Institute at West Point, and John W. Spencer, Chair of Urban Warfare Studies at the same institute, attended Topchubashov Center as part of their research visit to Azerbaijan.
Having already authored an article and book chapter on the Battle of Shusha of the Second Karabakh War (in Understanding Urban Warfare), the visitors had conducted a field study in Karabakh to examine the actual battlegrounds and interview local servicepeople and military experts.
Spencer`s earlier Karabakh field trip in November 2021 was co-facilitated by Topchubashov Center and included a public lecture on the Battle of Shusha.
At Topchubashov Center, Collins and Spencer were hosted by Center`s director Rusif Huseynov and Research Fellow Mahammad Mammadov this time. The guests also participated in a video-interview for Center`s Youtube channel.
