Joseph Shumunov

Alumnus

Joseph Shumunov is a fourth-year student at Kalamazoo College majoring in Political Science and International Area Studies. He recently studied abroad in Amman, Jordan, intensively studying the Arabic language and learning about Jordan-Israel relations. Joseph also had an internship at the Topchubashov Center during the summer of 2022. Additionally, he has been a public affairs intern for the US Embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan, as well as a research intern for Dr. Michael Doran of the Hudson Institute in Washington D.C. His research areas cover the Middle East and Eurasia, specifically Israeli-Arab relations, the South Caucasus, and Iran, while his research interests include peacebuilding and great power conflict.
